How to upload a Website on Internet and Make it Live!

Are you a new Web Designer? Do you want to make your website live? Then you need to upload your website in a hosting service to make your website live. You can show your website to other after making it live. Beside this, you can test your website from different device by browsing it on internet. Today I will show you the full process, “How to upload a website in online and make it live”.

A lot of new web designer who are learning the web design for first time want to make their website live on internet. It is really a awesome feeling for making first time a website which can browse from online. Even it was also a dream to me for making my website live for first time.

We know that when we design a html page in our computer, we can browse this file on our internet browser because browser can access this file while it is in same computer. But when you want to access your website from another computer then you must need to place your site on a computer that can access from any device using internet. For this we use hosting. The hosting provider have a lot of computer which is connected with the internet all time. So, when we upload our website source file on those website then we can access it from any device from all over the world. Ok Let’s see that how can we make our website live.

For making a website live at first we need to have an online hosting. For first time you get free hosting services from online. There are a lot of website which provide free hosting. If you don’t have a hosting site then follow this tutorial: How to get 10gb free hosting from online

Step – 1: Make a Website

At first we need to have a website which we have designed in our computer. If you have already one than you don’t need to make  new one. For example I have created a simple website like this.

Step – 2: Take all the source file in a Folder

Find out the source file of your website and take them in a folder. As a example my website have a html file, a css file and an image folder. I have placed them in a folder which name is “school_website”.

Step – 3: Compress the folder into zip file

Now compress your folder which contains all source file. We have made it compress because we want to upload the all files of this website. After compressing the folder turns into a zip file. So we can easily upload it to our hosting site.

Step – 4: Upload the Zip file in hosting file manager

Go to the cPanel of your hosting. I am using free hosting service from 000webhost.com. Now find out the File Manager Option and click on it.

Now you will go to the root folder of your hosting manager. 

Now it’s time to upload our website here. Click on the Upload Button and select the zip file which we have created before and Upload it. Remember to upload file in "public_html" Folder.

After Uploading the file click right button on it and select Extract. 

Than the file will will be extracted to the folder again. Now you will get all your source file inside this folder. 

Now move all your source file into "public_html" folder. It is not important. But if you do this than you can access your website easily and your site will be address as your domain name. Because if the index.html file is placed in the public_html folder then it can be access by calling the domain address of your site.

Now double click on your html file or click on right button and click on view. Than it will open in your browser. Now your website is live. Copy the link from the address bar. This is the link of your website.

Our website is now live. You can access your website using this address.
You can share this link to anyone to browse your website. You can make a suitable address for your website by using a domain. I will discuss about it on another post.
